The British Arrows Launch Inaugural Young Arrows

With Melody Sylvester and Juliette Larthe as jury Co-Chairs

13 June 2022

The British Arrows are proud to announce the launch of the Young Arrows, a brand new awards show solely dedicated to recognising and rewarding emerging talent.

Continuing The British Arrows’ heritage of honouring the best in moving image commercial content creation, the Young Arrows will shine a light across a variety of crafts and skill-sets.

Open to people beginning their career in advertising and with a specific award open to students, the Young Arrows offers a range of categories with a lower entry fee and more flexible eligibility criteria with the chance to win a coveted Arrow award.

The Young Arrows winners will be decided by a jury made up of a cross section of top industry talent, headed up by Co-Chairs, Melody Sylvester Head of Film at Engine and Juliette Larthe EP and Co-Founding Partner UK at Prettybird.

Melody is passionate about her involvement in the Young Arrows and comments, “Now more than ever, with all that we have collectively experienced in our professional and personal lives, I am even more fired up about supporting any initiative that bangs the drum for the young. I can’t wait to work with Juliette on this. We are both determined to gather the freshest and most diverse minds ever for the jury. Let’s do it!”

Juliette goes on to say, “What an honour to be Craft Chair and work with Melody Sylvester and The Arrows Team, on Young Arrows, the Gen Z are going to bring examples that break the traditional moulds made by people whose work we haven't seen much of historically.”

Co-Chairs of the board of directors at The British Arrows, Clare Donald (Chief Production Officer at Publicis Groupe UK) and Jani Guest (CEO at Creators Inc), have been working on developing this initiative for a while. The pandemic held things up but also made it more important than ever to extend the Arrows’ reach to celebrate emerging creative talents

Jani said “The past two years have been an incredibly difficult landscape for emerging talent to flourish in. We strongly believe that now is the time to support young talent and help them build a path into the industry. Our hope is that this will be the beginning of nurturing the British Arrows winners of the future.”

Several companies have already pledged their support of the Young Arrows, British Arrows Managing Director Lisa Lavender comments, “we are beyond thrilled to say that Rogue, Publicis Poke, Academy, Object & Animal, BBH, Factory, Siren, No8 and Coffee & TV are already signed up as sponsors. All before we had officially launched, it’s amazing to have such support and proof that our industry is ready to start shining a light on its stars of the future”.

Winners will be celebrated at an awards event in October.
